I grew up with photography being very important in our family. We even had our own darkroom. I was more into drawing, painting, and being a horse-crazy young girl; horses where my favorite subjects. Needing images of horses to draw, I asked my father to teach me photography. Photography made me a much better at observing horses behavior, movements and expressions. I would sit for hours watching horses and learning how they interact with each other and with humans. Over time I was photographing more and drawing less until I no longer drew. But having a background in art has greatly helped in understanding color, composition, and light.
