An award winning theatre scene designer and photographer, I received a Bachelors degree in
Drama from Nebraska Wesleyan University and a Masters degree in Theatre Design from Bradley University.
My discipline has been theatrical scenic design with over 400 design credits and 45+ years of experience in
education, community, professional theatre and television. My design work has taken him to Off-Broadway,
Carnival Cruise Lines, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, which, in
2001, awarded him the prestigious Kennedy Center Gold Medallion for distinguished work in theatre. He has
also designed for many regional theatres and Public Television. Yet, he has always maintained that he is a
teacher at heart; and he retired as Professor Emeritus from Ball State University in 2015.
Today, I have a set up his own small (and when I say small, I mean really small) business specializing
in head shot and glamour portraits. He often goes back to his roots in theatrical design and creates
backdrops, settings, props, etc. for many of his photo shoots. I love to share my "how-to" techniques
with fellow photographers.
